We require all clients to sign an employment contract before we will file any paperwork on their behalf. This is to protect the client and attorney. Read this contract thoroughly. It is a legal, binding contract and we abide by it throughout the entire proceeding.

Adoption

There are several circumstances in which the issue of adoption may arise. We handle stepparent adoptions, relative adoptions, and non-relative adoptions. The fee schedule varies according to the time and skill required assisting a client with an adoption.

Personal Injury & Medical Malpractice

We can also handle your personal injury, motor vehicle accident, and medical malpractice claims. Essentially if someone is hurt by the negligence of another person or business, they may have a claim for the personal injuries they sustained. The damages which may be available for a personal injury claim include damages for pain and suffering, lost wages, lost earning capacity, mental anguish, and compensation for property damage. Medical malpractice can arise when a medical facility, doctor, or health care provider injures a patient. Such cases may arise in the setting of doctor’s offices, hospitals, and even nursing homes. Health care providers are required to meet certain standards of acceptable care. When they fail to do so and a person is injured because of that failure, a medical malpractice claim arises.

Criminal Defense

We provide representation to persons charged with felony, misdemeanor, and military crimes. Additionally, we represent juveniles in the juvenile court system. Attorney Joe Woodward handles military law cases, while several of our staff attorneys assist with the criminal caseload in Texas state courts.

We have a different fee schedule for cases that are plea-bargained or dismissed and cases that actually go to trial.

The fee schedule is as follows:

MISDEMEANORS

Plea or Dismissal $750.00
We accept payment of $375.00 down and $375.00 within 30 days.
Jury Trial $150.00 per hour of attorney time
We accept payment of a $1,500.00 retainer with the client being billed every 14 days for sums exceeding the retainer amount.

FELONIES

Plea or Dismissal $1000.00
We accept payment of $650.00 down and $350.00 within 30 days.
Jury Trial $150.00 per hour of attorney time
We accept a retainer of $2,500.00 with the client being billed every fourteen days for sums exceeding the retainer amount.

It is important to note that your attorney has no way of giving you an exact cost for a jury trial. Because all jury trials involve varying degrees of time and skill, your attorney will attempt to provide you with an estimate of the total cost of a jury trial during your initial consultation.

Some offenses such as DWI often include a suspension of the defendant’s driver’s license. There is a procedure for obtaining a license for the purpose of driving to and from work should your license be suspended. If you would like to obtain an Occupational Driver’s License, please contact us.
